Observation of turtles
Four species of sea turtles nest in Tortuguero National Park: green turtles, from April to August; leatherbacks from February to July; hawksbills from April to October; and loggerheads from April to May.
In Las Baulas Marine Park turtles can be found all year-round. The nesting season for the giant leatherback is October-March, when females come ashore every night at high tide. Smaller Pacific green turtles, nest between May-August. In this park it is common to see as many as 100 turtles in one single night.
Bird watching
Costa Rica is a birdwatchers paradise, with over 878 species recorded to date, all within relatively short distances. .
Large numbers of migrant birds are found here as it is a significant coastal migration route for birds migrating between North and South America. Warblers, flycatchers, raptors and other pass through on their way south. Resident birds include the rare Quetzal, Tiger Herons, Toucans, Macaws, Sun bitterns, Long Tailed Manakins and Orpendolas.
The best places for bird watching are; Monteverde, Osa de peninsular, Tortuguero National Park and the Braulio Carrillo National Park.
Crocodile Safari
