Managua

Once the colonial capital, Leon has played a very important political and cultural role within Nicaragua. It is here that you will find the largest religious colonial building in Central America, Leon Cathedral, which is home to valuable works of art.
Colonial architecture has been well preserved here, you will find evidence of this within its attractive churches and ruins.
Just outside of Leon is the Maribios volcanic chain. There is no where else in the world where there are so many volcanoes situated within such a small distance. One of them, Cerro Negro volcano, is one of the youngest volcanoes in the world and if exhilaration and adventure is what excites you then look no further, volcano snowboarding is practised here along with other less extreme activities; trekking and camping.
