We are convinced that the best waste is the one that is not generated, which is why we invite communities to reject and reduce the consumption of single-use plastics, and if they can´t be avoided, our company looks for alternatives to reuse them and value them correctly.
Our organization promotes and organizes recollection campaigns for type 2- 4 – 5 lids in different communities with the aim of collecting the largest amount of this plastic and donating it to DONATAPA Project.
DonaTapa is a social and environmental responsibility project that, by recycling plastic lids, seeks to create more accessible beaches for people with disabilities. For this purpose, it produces plastic wood, with which it makes retractable walkways for the movement of wheelchairs on the beach, amphibious chairs so that people can enter the sea and other 100% recycled items such as benches, tables and garbage cans.
Through this project, we support and are in accordance with:
– The National Strategy for Waste Separation, Recovery and Valuation (ENSRVR).
– The National Plan for Solid Waste Management
– Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
– Ecological Blue Flag
– ICT Program – Social Tourism with Integrity
With this initiative, CAST aims to raise awareness, help the environment and ultimately develop accessibility projects throughout Costa Rica. For this reason, we also commit to donate ¢1,000 for every kilo of tapas that we deliver to the campaign.
This way we contribute to value the transformation of the collected material as a donation, thus closing the circular economy of plastic; for the Costa Rican Accessible Tourism Network to carry out specific projects such as accessible beaches.
